‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, has long been battling its share of controversies, right from the film’s shoot being stalled, to Kangana Ranaut taking charge as director and Sonu Sood walking out of the project, apart for his recent war of words with his co-star-turned-director.
While the exchange between the two stars seems to have taken an ugly turn, actress Ankita Lokhande, who is making her Bollywood debut with this historical drama, has voiced her support for her “new captain”.
Taking to Instagram, the actress shared photos of herself flashing a bright smile for the camera, with Kangana by her side, she shared her excitement about shooting her first song for the film. “I feel my feet lighter. Rehearsing for my first Bollywood song with master ji @ganeshacharyaa and our new captain Kangana Ranaut @team_kangana_ranaut Super excited to be part of it. #jhalkaribai Much much gratitude #kamaljain #manikarnika #releasingon25th Jan.”
‘Manikarnika’ will see Kangana play the titular role of the Queen of Jhansi, Laxmi Bai. Ankita, on the other hand, plays the character of Jhalkari Bai, a trusted aide to the Queen.
The film was in the news these past weeks after reports stated that Kangana took over directing a few portions of the film. Apart from the star-cast, action director Nick Powell has also been called back for the reshoots.
The team is looking forward to getting the film ready on time for its January 25, 2019 release.
